Human and social sciences

On Wednesday 29 September 2010, in Amman, the French Institute for the Near East (IFPO) and Transeuropéennes held the third conference of the platform “Translating human and social sciences in the Near East”, co-financed by  the IFPO, Culturesfrance and the Cooperation and Cultural Action Branch of the Embassy of France in Jordan.

This initiative forms part of the Transeuropéennes project “Translating in the Mediterranean Area”, and a mapping of translation in the Euro-Mediterranean region undertaken in 2010, in partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation and approximately fifteen other partners.

La Plateforme « traduire les sciences humaines et sociales au Proche-Orient » a une double vocation : contribuer à l’état des lieux de la traduction en Méditerranée, mené en partenariat avec la Fondation Anna Lindh euroméditerranéenne pour le dialogue entre les cultures, et être une pépinière de projets communs.

The "Translations, Writings, Libraries" Workshop took place with the frame of the "Etats généraux culturels méditerranéens" organised in Marseille organised within the frame of the French Presidency of the European Union, on the 4th and 5th of Novembre 2008. We propose here after the conclusions as produced by the working group of this workshop, which is the launching event of the "Translating in the Mediterrean" project.
